Since its inception in 2003, 'Mark Raymond Mason Fine Art Photography' has been an online portfolio of my photography and ideas about art. A lot has changed, but the site remains free to access and unsponsored – a celebration of art, our world, and creative thinking.

Dusky Trees
Check out this recent photo from my local area, taken in some ranch-lands on a high plateau above town. This is the best light I've experienced for awhile, but it took a few evenings to really find the right 'dusky' feel. Photographs like this remind me that, though the journey can be magical, everything we search the world for can be found right where we started from.

Daily Photo Tips Updated
The Daily Photo Tips tool now optionally reuses tips from the existing archive of more than 1400 photo tips. Every day, if a new tip is available, it will be used and added to the archive. If not, a random tip will be chosen instead. Updates to the Daily Photo Tips website tool are coming soon, including a Random Tip button!

Looped Kelp
This is an interesting photograph of some sea kelp looping in and out of the frame. It's one of my favourites from a trip to Vancouver Island this Spring. The composition is simple, but there's something quite menacing about it that I can't seem to put my finger on. See if you agree!

I've updated the website to look cleaner, simpler, and narrower on small devices, so you can now enjoy my photography on the go. The address remains the same as always. Surface Reeds, Meniscus
This Spring, I spent a week with Terri on the rainy West coast of Vancouver Island. The weather was moody and stormy, but I made a lot of monochrome photographs from the confines of my rain-jacket and waterproof housing. This simple, wandering look at a reedy tidal pool is the first photograph I've finished from the trip so far, but many others are on the way soon!
TopWhat's Coming?
MarkRaymondMason.com is constantly evolving. New photographs, photo tutorials, and creative ideas about photography will be added, with the goal of making 'Mark Raymond Mason, Fine Art Photography' one of the freshest and most interesting photography websites around.
New photography tutorials are always in the works. I will try to author a collection that speaks to the aspiring fine art photographer, fostering creativity, style, and personal growth. The new tutorials will cover unusual topics and provide a novel take on art, photography and life as an artist.
Of course, new photography will be added from time to time. I expect my new work to continue to evolve, as I explore black and white photography, photos of the human form, and other areas outside of my comfort zone. Keep an eye out for some new and exciting photography!
MarkRaymondMason.com will continue to be free to access, unsponsered, and completely free of ads or product reviews. We do not accept donations – instead, please donate to an environmental or social charity of your choice, such as the World Wildlife Fund (www.wwf.org) or the Red Cross (www.redcross.org).
To keep on top of what's going on here at MarkRaymondMason.com, consider subscribing to my RSS Feed. In addition to receiving a useful photo tip every day, you'll be notified of changes and additions to the site.
