This late afternoon thunderstorm came in quickly, sweeping over the hills and pounding the dry valley with rain. I was photographing some trees silhouetted against the wild thunderheads when I saw the end of the storm approaching. The soft white evening light was beginning to show underneath the dark clouds, and for just a moment the hillside across the valley looked like fire was licking across its horizon. The weight of the storm felt phenomenal. I managed only one quick exposure before the fast moving storm surged on and the rain eased, leaving the valley feeling fresh and green in the cool evening.
