Welcome to a collection of spectacular pictures, including landscapes, closeups, macros, and other artistic images, by a professional Canadian image-maker

Welcome to 'Mark Raymond Mason, Fine Art Photography', featuring abstract photography galleries from rural and urban areas in Canada and around the world.  Thanks for visiting!

This website showcases a collection of my photographic efforts from the past 8 years.  If you like my work, please leave your thoughts in my guestbook before you go.  Enjoy my photographs!

WHAT'S NEW?
I've just finished adding new photographs to galleries 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The work is all new, from the last 6 months or so. Much is from a photography trip into rural and small-town California. I'm very happy with the work I did at some informal junkyards in California and Calgary, as well as my first attempts at black and white portraiture and nude photography! (Jun 10, 2008)

Nine more photographs have been added to galleries 2, 3 and 4 and to the 'More Photos' section. The new work begins to explore urban areas in earnest: I have been finding thought-provoking, abstract subjects in the city, including some burnt abandoned houses. There is more rural work from the last 6 months as well. Photographs from a recent photography trip to California will be posted soon! (Feb 10, 2008)

To my delight, I recently received word that I won two Merit Awards in B&W Magazine's 2008 Single Image Contest Awards Issue. The first was for 'Brilliant Branches', in the Landscape/Nature Category. The next was for 'Leaf, Ice, Reflections', in the Seascape/Water Category. This is a publication I respect, and I am truly honoured to be among this year's winners! (Dec 1, 2007)

As promised, I have posted a host of new photographs in galleries 2, 3, 4, and 5, and in the 'More Photos' section. All are from the last year, many from a trip to southern Utah in the spring. I have created some black and whites from this trip that I think rival the colour versions! I have been continuing to explore selective focus, and am thinking about the idea of 'inversion', or seeing without gravity. (Nov 1, 2007)

6 new photos have been added, one to gallery 2 and five to the 'more photos' section. The photos are new to the website, but were actually created near the beginning of my photography career. Though some were on the older version of this website, this is the first time many have been available in print. Stay tuned - more new photos from a recent canyoneering expedition in Utah are coming soon. (Aug 26, 2007)

HOW DO I USE THIS WEBSITE?
I have tried to make the website easy to use.  Click a link in the list below to get started, then use the menu at the top of the screen to navigate to different pages.

Once in a gallery, click on any photograph to enlarge it.  To read my thoughts about the photo, click the 'About Photo' button next to the enlargement.

Click on the magnifying glass in the top right corner of the main site to search MarkRaymondMason.com.  Searching for words will give you a list of pages related to those words.  You can search for specific photos, photographs from a certain area, photo tutorial subjects, or anything else you're looking for.

If you're wondering where a link will take you, just hold your mouse over it and a brief description will appear.
